Accra, Nov. 12, GNA - An Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday sentenced Edward Duah, unemployed, to 16 years' imprisonment with hard labour for stealing electrical gadgets valued at 19.5 million cedis belonging to a footballer.

Duah pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit crime, causing unlawful damage, unlawful entry and stealing.

The Court presided over by Mr Williwise Kyeremeh sentenced him to four years' imprisonment on each count to run consecutively. Nana Atiemoh and Okoe Osabu, Duah's accomplices, are on the run. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Elizabeth Alormatu told the Court that the complainant Mr Samuel Bakai is a footballer with Prestea Mines Stars.

Prosecution said on September 22, while the complainant was in camp in Prestea, Duah and Atiemoh broke into his house and made away with a television set, video deck, and microwave oven among other electrical gadgets.

Prosecution said Police investigations led to the arrest of Duah, who mentioned Atiemoh and Osabu as his accomplices. She said Duah confessed that he received 800,000 cedis from Atiemoh as his share after the items were sold.
