A Konongo-based colts club Asante Akim Junior Missiles have threatened to drag Liberty Professionals to the Ghana FA if they failed to pay them the 10 percent development fee for the transfer of Sulley Muntari's brother Sulley Muniru Sariki to CFR Cluj.
The colts club which is owned by Kwaku Benning-Battor has churned out quality talent over the last few years including Black Stars midfielder Rabiu Mohammed of Evian Thonon Gaillard.
An administrative member of the club Kingsley Asafo-Agyei hinted they have already forwarded a letter to Liberty asking them for the compulsory ten percent of the transfer fee of Sariki to the Romanian champions but nothing has come out of it.
"We developed the boy and as it is enshrined in the GFA articles, we are entitled to ten percent of the amount Liberty sold him to Cluj,” Asafo-Agyei told Goal Ghana.
“Sariki played for us at the Under-10, U12 and 14 levels before leaving us to go and stay in Accra because of school where he joined the Liberty Youth team, we have his card.”
He added: “Liberty as a professional club should do what is expected of them and give us the ten percent for us to use to run our club and churn out many fantastic players for Ghana.”
“We know Sariki was sold for $400,000 and we are giving them up to the close of this month to give us the ten percent development fee otherwise we will be compelled to send the matter to GFA.”
Sariki was transferred from Liberty to CFR Cluj during the winter transfer period, despite excelling on trials with Real Madrid.
The 19-year-old playmaker has already made an impact in the Romanian league winning the man-of-the-match award in his debut game against CSMS Lasi.
