Asamoah Gyan scored for Shanghai SIPG on his return from injury on Saturday but his side lost 2-1 at home.
The Black Stars captain had spent only three minutes on the pitch as a second half substitute when he needed the equalizer.
But Jiangsu Sunning snatched the winner to bag the points in the Chinese Super League match.
Gyan has now scored three league goals in seven appearances.
