Vipers beat Samatex

Cape Coast, Oct 21, GNA - Cape Coast Venomous Vipers, fought back from two goals down at half time to clinch a 3-2 victory over Samatex in their zone (2B) first division league match played at the Cape Coast sports stadium on Sunday.

Vipers, playing one of their best games in recent times went down to a second minute goal scored by centre half Dan Logosu of Samartex. The early goal, unsettled Vipers and in their hast to find the equaliser made a lot of faulty passes for the greater part of the first half which Samartex capitalised on to increase the score to 2-0 in the 42nd minute with a pile driver from centre half, Moro Farasu.

Vipers, urged on by their teeming supporters, then took control of the match on resumption and reduced the tally to 2-1 through centre forward, Peter Edu.

They continued to pile pressure on Samartex and earned a spot kick, from which substitute Benjamin Kudotoh, scored to level up in the 80th minute.

From then on the game became a ding - dong battle and when all things pointed to a drawn game, inside left Aminu Bukari, scored the match winner in the 83rd minute.

In another development, Oguaa United, fought back from a goal down to beat Twifo Praso Noble Kings 5-1 in their Central Region second division league match played at the Cape Coast sports stadium on Saturday. Noble Kings, who started the match on a fast note, took an early lead through George Boakye in the 16th minute.

Undaunted, United, hit back and levelled proceedings through a spot kick taken by Francis Ghansah, in the 25th minute.

Centre half, Kwame Egyir, who scored a hat trick on the day, restored United

lead to 2-1 in the 37th minute. United continued to pile the pressure on the visitors and earned the second penalty, from which Egyir scored to raise the tally to 3-1 in the 48th minute.

Substitute, William Baidoo, through a solo effort increased the tally to 4-1 in the 55th minute.

Noble Kings did all they could to keep the scores within respectable range but had the unfortunate task of picking another ball from their net in the dying minutes of the game when hard pressed defender handled the ball in the "18" for yet another penalty from which Egyir to seal the doom of the visitors.

The match between Asamerik F/C and Bless F/C scheduled for the same venue on Friday was rained off.
