The Ghana Beach Soccer Association, in line with seeking corporate partnerships and sponsorship to shore its annual budget in excess of 200,000 GHC has secured from a package worth 15,875 GHC from Voltic "official thirst quencher" for the beach soccer league.
The deal which also includes water for the twenty teams comes just ahead of the commencement of the third league season this Saturday at the LA beach Soccer Arena. Beach soccer in Ghana continues to make impressive strides with a lean budget since the game's introduction onto Ghanaian beaches in 2007 followed by the two leagues in 2011.
The sponsorship by the water bottling company will cover all clubs in the Championship and division one leagues.
President of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah says he is delighted at Voltic's commitment ever since beach soccer hit the country seven years ago. "From day one, Voltic has been a loyal supporter of beach soccer asking what they can do to improve the sport and not necessarily their own benefits''
He added that the renewal has come at a good time; '' We are grateful to Voltic who have embraced the idea of developing this raw but highly technical and entertaining sport. I would also use this opportunity to call on corporate Ghana to join us now in the development and not wait when the sport is cooked''
The GBSA will jointly organise this season's two division leagues in partnership with the GFA which is expected to raise the standard considerably. The third season of the novelty Ghana beach soccer leagues will see increased competition in both divisions. A provisional squad for the national beach soccer team currently ranked 8th in Africa by Beach Soccer World wide (BSWW) will be drafted from top clubs at the end of the first round of the league.
