Ghana Premier League WAFA have brushed aside media reports that head coach John Killa spat at a match official in their 2-0 defeat at Obuasi on Sunday against New Edubiase.

Killa was sent into the stands in the first half at the Len Clay Stadium.

But a statement on the club’s official Facebook page has rubbished the reports.

It said: “WAFA wish to discredit media reports that our First Team Coach John Killa spat at assistant one F.D. Ocansey during Sunday’s Premier League clash against New Edubiase United in Obuasi.

“We wish to categorically state that Killa had exchanges with the fourth referee rather.

“This was in protest to a tackle on one of our players which was bluntly overlooked by the referee.

“Some radio reports and Internet publications claimed the Dutchman was marched into the stands because he spat at the fourth referee.

“The reports are false and should be disregarded.

“Our Academy always abides by the rules of the game and has been preaching Fair Play since our establishment.”

WAFA have slipped to fifth place on the league table and will look to bounce back when they host Asante Kotoko on Sunday in Sogakope.
