Ghana will host the third edition of the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone B tournament from October 24 to November 3 in Accra.
The sub-regional body, headed by Kwesi Nyantakyi, president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), took the decision at the last committee meeting.
An official of the zonal body’s secretariat in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, told GNA Sports that eight teams would take part in the two-week tournament, which would feature locally -based players.
Seven of the teams will come from WAFU Zone B, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Niger, Nigeria, and Togo; with Mauritania coming from WAFU Zone A to complete the quartet.
The matches will be played at the Accra and El-Wak stadiums.
The source said the tournament would also serve as preparatory ground for the teams in the region that had qualified for next year’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) scheduled for South Africa next January.
The tourney will be the first major competition since Nyantakyi took over the zonal body two years ago.
