Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris is confident of ending his goal drought for club and country soon.

The 23-year-old has failed to score for his Turkish side Trabzonspor since joining them on transfer deadline day after seven appearances in the Super Lig.

His last international goal was back in October last year during Ghana’s mammoth 6-1 demolition of Egypt in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier last year.

The misfiring striker has seen his position swept up by Jordan Ayew who is now preferred to partner Asamoah Gyan upfront in the national team.

“My main work is to score goals and it’s clear I am going through some difficulties in front of goals but I am confident that I will get a bit fortunate very soon,” Waris said.

“There is no question about no effort, coaches are happy with my effort just that I have not found that extra bit luck that comes along with scoring goals.

“I have no confidence crisis issues I am just working extra hard every day to ensure that I get my goals back.”

Waris is expected to lead Ghana’s attack for this month’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations penultimate qualifier against Uganda in Kampala on 15 November.
