Influential Ghana forward Abdul Majeed Waris has arrived in Turkey to join the Ghana camp ahead of next Tuesday’s World Cup qualifying play-off clash with Egypt.

The 22-year-old Spartak Moscow striker touched down at the Istanbul Atatürk Havaliman Airport on Monday evening and headed straight to the Ghana camping base with officials.

Waris is among few players who have arrived to boost Kwesi Appiah’s ranks ahead of the 30 June Air Defence Stadium game in Cairo. Turkey-based Jerry Akaminko was one of the first players to turn up in camp while other players joined on Monday evening. Waris played a key role in Ghana’s first-leg win over the North African giants last month – scoring once and setting up two other goals for Asamoah Gyan and Sulley Muntari. Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien and Kevin-Prince Boateng will join their colleagues in camp on Tuesday. Essien was in Ghana over the weekend to attend his late father’s burial and funeral service but did not travel with the team on Sunday night. Boateng who has missed Ghana’s recent two games with injuries has also hit top form ahead of the game as he bagged a brace for Schalke 04 in their win over Werder Bremen in the German Bundesliga on Saturday.
