Valenciennes talisman Abdul Majeed Waris is a doubt for Sunday’s crucial Ligue 1 match against Nantes after picking up a calf injury in training on Tuesday.
The in-form striker bruised his calf during practice but the injury does not seem to be serious.
Waris has been in the treatment room lately and had to overcome a shoulder injury to play in the 1-0 defeat to Lille.
“Following a blow this morning (Tuesday) in training. He has a bruised calf,” Valenciennes coach Ariel Jacobs said.
Waris will be closely monitored by the medical team as Valenciennes look for an escape route to remain in the top-flight.
The 22-year-old Ghana international has been crucial to their survival campaign and will be worked on to stay fit for the tie.
Waris has banged in nine goals in 12 Ligue 1 matches since joining from Russian side Spartak Moscow in January on loan.
Valenciennes lie second-bottom on the table and are in need of the points to aid their campaign.
