Watch Jordan Ayew’s first goal for Sheffield United

Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew scored his first goal for Sheffield United in their 2-1 defeat to Championship side Charlton Athletic on November 7, 2026.

Ayew headed home United's equaliser after Millenic Alli had given Charlton an early lead in the 12th minute at The Valley.

However, Matty Godden struck with 11 minutes remaining to restore Charlton's advantage, helping the hosts secure victory and end an 11-game winless run in the league.

Godden's late strike was his second goal of the season and handed the Addicks their first league victory since August 29. The result lifted them to 19th place, seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Despite the defeat, Ayew earned the Player of the Match award for his contribution to the game.

His goal comes at a crucial time, with the Black Stars set to face Somalia in a double-header in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Ayew withdrew from the previous games due to injury concerns but is expected to play a key role in the November 2026 fixtures as Ghana seek victories to boost their chances of qualification following earlier defeats to The Gambia and Côte d’Ivoire.
