Hiroshima, Aug. 22, GNA – Ghana faces a tough task when the Black Princesses meet Germany in their Group D second game at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Japan on Thursday but Coach Robert Sackey is keeping faith in his team to deliver.

Germany, 4-0 winners of their opener against China last Monday are favoured ahead of the meet with the Ghanaians but Coach Sackey insists the Princesses will stage a decent opposition aimed at grinding a result off the former winners.

“Germany is a very good side without a shade of doubt, but we are here to compete and will give them a very good match.”

Ghana is seen as minnows against the German machine even before the Princesses lost 0-4 to the United States of America (USA) in the opener last Monday but Coach Sackey is adamant her charges are all too weak a side.

“We made too many mistakes against USA last Monday and we have worked very hard to correct those mistakes. Once we know those costly mistakes cannot be repeated and the players are willing to compete, there is no reason why we cannot be sure of a good result against Germany.”

He said “we have seen them play a very physical and technical side but we also have the capabilities to do well. Once we can get that result, we are on our way”.

Coach Sackey told GNA Sports in Hiroshima that “to be honest with you I came to the competition with the aim of getting out of the Group, and that mentality has yet to change. We are determined to work hard towards that.”

Ghana faces an early exit form the competition if they lose to Germany on Thursday. The Princesses were kicked out at the group stages in Germany in 2010 where they played as debutants.
