Black Stars head Coach Avram Grant has revealed he deliberately left out Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah from his squad just to allow him heal well.
The gifted midfielder is yet to feature for the Black Stars in over a year after picking up a career threatening injury while playing in the UEFA Champions League for his club Juventus.
Asamoah has been generally been hailed as the best technically gifted player in the Black Stars set-up but injuries have deprived the nation of his unequaled services.
Black Stars head coach Avram Garnt who has hinted the former Udinese man will play a role in his bid to end Ghana’s 33-year-old wait for an AFCON trophy next January says Asamoah's absence is calculated all in an aim to get him ready.
“Well Kwadwo is not 100% fit and he did not play in the last two games for his club,” Grant told the media
“He hasn’t played a lot football in the last year and half and we can only hope next season is better for him.”
“He is a quality player and I hope he will get a good run of games next season.”
"But this time around we cautiously left him out."
Kwadwo Asamoah gave a good account of himself when he last represented the nations during the chaotic world cup campaign in Brazil where Ghana failed to break through the group stages."
