Bata, Feb. 9, GNA - Deputy Black Stars Coach, Akwasi Appiah says Ghana did not deserve to be losers in their semi final meet with Zambia in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament at the Bata Stadium last Wednesday.

The Stars failed to shine in a game that Asamoah Gyan missed from the spot on eight minutes and the coach believes it was a cruel way of missing the finals.

“We didn't deserve to go out like this. We did our best today and played well. Tactically, I don't think there was something wrong but that is football. Such things happen.”

Appiah insists his charges who dominated play did not underestimate the Zambian Chipolopolos, who he said rather took their chances. “We did not take our chances and they took theirs and that was the only difference.

“'We knew the Zambian team was very good and we expected a tough game. We went out there and gave our best and looking for a result which unfortunately did not come.”

Appiah said the technical team will in the mean time focus on lifting up the spirit of the players for the fight for the bronze against Mali who also lost to Cote D'Ivoire in Malabo.
