Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi has expressed confidence in the referees selected for the crucial semi-final game between Ghana and Equatorial Guinea on Thursday, February 5, at the Estadio De Malabo, Malabo.

He said at a press conference that Ghana has no doubt in the competence of the referees selected for the match adding that, their performance so far in the competition has been excellent.

The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has appointed Gabonese referee Eric Otogo-Costane as the central referee for the game with Abdelhak Echiali from Algeria and Jerome Emiliano Dos Santos from Angola will be on the lines.

He said the selected are top referees with high ratings from CAF Referees Appointment Committee (RAC) and was confident they will give Ghana fair officiating.

“I don’t believe what happened to Tunisia was a deliberate ploy to cheat them. I believe it was a purely a human error or under performance on the day.

“The referee who officiated in the Tunisia-Equatorial Guinea game was one of the top referees in the competition and I think it was a bad day for him,” Nyatakyi stated.

He said CAF and its leadership are not happy with the situation in the infamous match and plans are in place to prevent that.

He was therefore confident that Ghana will not suffer any form of unfair in the game.
