After brilliantly crafting a well-deserved 2-0 victory over stubborn Tano Bofoakwa last Wednesday, Golden Boy Abdul Razak has said that he will go all out in Kotoko's crucial 13th week league game against Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.
Razak said he will not underrate Hearts of Oak but no matter the opposition Hearts of Oak come into Sunday's game with, the Porcupine Warriors will scale over it. He said he will never overrate Hearts of Oak as matches against the Phobians are just like playing any other team in the league. "Playing Hearts is just like playing any other team. We have taken the three points against Tano Bofoakwa. We're adhering strictly to our concept of one match at a time.
After Bofoakwa, it's their turn to suffer defeat from our hands. "They will have nowhere to hide on Sunday. That's for sure", he said. He said the club has an objective to win the league and nothing can stop the team from achieving that objective. Although he maintained some sense of positivity, the difficulty of the task is not lost on the Kotoko coach. But the challenges from other teams such as Hearts notwithstanding, Razak believes the Porcupine Warriors will laugh last.
"Difficulties have set in at some point during the journey but that does not mean things have fallen apart. "We just need the backing and support of everyone to strengthen us in our march towards league glory for the first time in ten years. "There are more challenges ahead of us but just as we have been able to overcome those that have come our way, we have been able to succeed. "I know we're still on course because we're still the league leaders. There's nothing to worry about", he said.
He said the main purpose of fighting for the release of Charles Taylor was to get him to complement the efforts of the old players. He said from the performance so far exhibited by Taylor in the two league matches he has so far played for the Porcupine Warriors, the club and its followers will not regret ever signing him on. He said he was impressed by Taylor's performance when he came on as a substitute in the game against Power FC. That he said explained his decision to start him in the game against Tano Bofoakwa.
"From what we've seen of him, we've the hope that there's more to come from Taylor. "After a five-month lay off, he has the opportunity to prove to all that he still has a lot of football in him.
"As the season wears on, supporters and the whole of Ghana will see more of Taylor. "By contributing to last Sunday's victory and scoring his first goal last Wednesday, I can confidently say that Taylor has arrived", Razak noted. He replied in the affirmative when quizzed if he would field Taylor in Sunday's game against Hearts. "It's no secret, Taylor will play against Hearts on Sunday and I expect him to perform".
Razak pleaded with supporters of the club to have patience with the team when the going gets tough.
