Wurzburg, June 14, GNA - Skipper, Stephen Appiah says the focus of the team will be to avoid mistakes that caused them dearly in their World Cup opener against Italy on Monday, when they line up against Czech Republic in their second match on Saturday.
The Stars are confronted with a must win game against the Czechs, leaders of the group who are on three points, with a superior goal difference to the Italians.
Inspirational Appiah, told the GNA Sports in Wurzburg that "we made some mistakes in the first game and we hope to correct them in order to win this game.
"We have learnt much from that game and we have done enough evaluation to know where we went wrong and hope to overcome it."
Appiah reckons the Czechs will be tough costumers but insists the Stars will 'come good' in the game they must win to ensure their progress in the competition.
Like coach Ratomir Djukovic, Appiah is convinced the Stars could make it beyond the group stages.
"We just lost a game and not the entire plot. I see us going far and I know it will start with beating the Czechs, a feat we hope to achieve on Saturday."
Appiah understands the team will require a lot more to achieve their aim.
"Our spirit is alive and one of all the things we need is to win. It is such a good sign that we are alive in spirit and committed to die a lot more."
The player is hoping luck smiles at them to enable the team to find its rhythm and score during the game.
"We have what it takes to score goals and I know luck wasn=92t on our side against Italy because we created a lot of chances without getting even one on target.
"I'm only hoping the story will be different on Saturday because we need that luck to go on.'
