Mauritius assistant coach Akbar Partel hopes the side learns quickly from the 7-1 mauling suffered at the hands of Ghana in the opening 2017 AFCON qualifier on Sunday.

Les Dodos were cut into size by the impressive Black Stars team who even spurned many more chances to further the already flattering scoreline at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Assistant coach Akbar Partel who has been handed interim responsibility of the Mauritian team following the dismissal of Didier Six hopes his inexperienced team will take vital lessons from the Ghana massacre.

“We came here to learn and we have to learn quickly,” he said.

“This is an inexperienced team with a lot of young boys.

“We knew if Ghana played to their standard it will be no game and they tried to score every chance they got.

“We have a great lesson to learn from this game and I hope we improve in future.”

Mauritius must now recover quickly from this heavy defeat ahead of their next group match against Mozambique when the qualifiers resume in September.
