'We won't take mandate for granted'- Palmer

Accra, July 22, GNA - Wilfred Kwaku Osei Palmer of Tema Youth FC got the nod to serve on the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) at his first attempt on Thursday and says the four-year mandate will be respected.

The Tema Youth representative picked 30 votes to emerge one of the four selected to represent Division One on the Board regarded as the cabinet of Ghana Football.

Mr Palmer told GNA Sports 93the mandate given us is a huge one and we will never take it for granted. The delegates spoke loudly and it tells us what they expect of us in terms of developing Ghana football further." He said he was hopeful his strong accountancy background and principles of finance will further propel the Association to achieve its desire of preaching football business.

"It behoves on the GFA to let all understand what it means to run football business through our collective responsibility and efforts." He added.

Dueling on the 22-member Committee, Palmer told GNA Sports working as a team will not be cumbersome due to the already healthy relationship that exist among the representatives as members of the GFA. "Working together will be so easy because already we have a relationship as members of the FA even before we decided to contest for positions on the Executive Committee.

"Our priority will be on working together, balancing each other, stat= ing our individual positions and ideas but sticking by decisions we make as a collective body.'

The outspoken football administrator is one of the few new faces voted to join the Board which constitutes representatives from the Premier League= , Division One, Regional Football Associations and the Constituent bodies. Palmer just supervised Tema Youth back into the Premiership after the Club was relegated last season following some board room issues based on player ineligibility.
