Accra, Aug 30, GNA - Head coach of Ghana's U-17 team, Black Starlets, Sellas Tetteh has said that his charges would eschew any trace of complacency ahead of their quarter final duel with Peru on Saturday. Connoisseurs ahead of the Changwon meeting have favoured the Starlets who defeated Brazil 1-0 to advance to this stage, but coach Tetteh says his team will not be swayed by such forecast.

He told GNA Sports from South Korea, "We refuse to underrate Peru by thinking that we are the favourites. Peru is a strong title contender and it is our policy not to be complacent regardless of the opposition we meet.

"For Peru to have come this far means they are a solid force and we will go all out by ensuring we keep our dream of annexing the title becomes a reality".

Coach Tetteh said in the telephone conversation that his boys are psyched up to fire from all cylinders in the game, which they must win to ensure a semi final berth come this Saturday. He said the Starlets will ride high on their newly found fighting spirit to deliver yet another victory to the starving Ghanaian soccer public.

The Black Stars assistant coach told GNA Sports that the Starlets will have to fight for the ultimate result to ensure that they do not tread the road the 1991 and 95 teams trod. Ghana is chasing a third global title after rocking the world with class and splendour in the early 90s. Peru and Ghana are meeting for the second time in two years. Ghana drew one all with Peru in the last competition hosted by the South Americans in 2005. 30 Aug. 07
