West Brom cools link for Derek Boateng

West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson has played down talk of a deal for Dnipro midfielder Derek Boateng.

Hodgson is tightlipped on the prospect of signing the Ghana international.

“The Boateng one would be from the past. Before I came to the club, Boateng was a name being discussed as a potential new signing when he was playing in Spain.

“Even last summer, before we started this season, his name was mentioned.

“But it is not something we’ve got to grips with because there are so many names circulating in our own area of scouting and recruitment.”
