Whats Hearts players/coach say about the big match

Sun, 23 Jun 2002 Source: Mayobo

From Captain Joe Ansah
As usual, expect people to fuel tensions about the match and for Kotoko fans to predict big wins for their club. Yet with the blessing of the Most High God, I believe we shall prevail. The supporters should remain cool and calm and only be steadfast in the backbone of the team. That is our backbone.

From Benard Don Bortey ......
Many people have expressed countless number of views about the match as if that is the only one to determine the league. I think it will be one of the many matches we will be playing this season and as usual we need the supporters to pray for us. Every match is important, so we will treat this match just like the others and we will seek the three points as usual. There is no need for people to get sleepless nights over the match. We mean business in all our matches.

From Stephen Tetteh ....
Matches between us and Kotoko have always been very tough, yet I believe we are well prepared and focussed for this Sunday's encounter. Everybody must be calm and cool for I am sure we will win the match. All what Phobians must ask for is Allah's blessing, guidance and peace. I hope everybody who troops to the park will help avoidf any bad incidents to enable the match be a fine one.

From Sammy Adjei .........

I know we will win at the end of the day. But we must work very hard before God will bless us with our win. Hearts fans should not only pray for this Sunday's match but for all others which follow as they are equally important. We looked very poised for action and indeed the good Lord will reward us with a win on Sunday. We must all keep on praying for a peaceful match on Sunday and all other matches as well.

From Deputy Captain Charles Taylor ........

I do not fancy making comments before matches and that includes this particular match. My only message is that we need a peaceful atmosphere to play as it is only a game which is to bring us happiness more than anything else. I only pray that God gives me a good game as usual. We are determined to take the league and return to Africa and our dedication to work will see us through.

From James Nanor .....

We will take this game as a normal league match and will not make any statements to heighten tension. Our duty is to play football and that is what we will do to please the fans. Most of us have seen it all before and as such we know it will be an easy task. However we have resolved to do our best in all the matches we play this season and we will not relent in that.

From Awudu Adama ....

I have always wanted to play against Kotoko and I have always been proud of the goal I scored against them when I was at Dawu as my best goal. This match will be tough, yet I think the squad we have is more than capable of continuing with our winning run. I see a win for us even though Kotoko will put up a strong challenge. We are determined to win all our matches and the nature of our opponent has never been an issue to us. All we aks for is the support and prayers of all Phobians.

From Head Coach Herbert Addo .....
We are ready to do battle with Kotoko on Sunday. We have prepared well enough and we expect to play a more improved game than what we rendered at Obuasi. We are going in for the maximum points to further assert our leadership on the league table. We don't have any problems in defence and I am satisfied with the work rate in that department. However I am working on further increasing the work rate in midfield and attack. I do no have a definite team, but my selection will depend solely on availability and form. We used the match against Goldfields to test a few tactical moves. The most exciting thing for me was the resilience my players exhibited in fighting tooth and nail to get the 3 points. We still achieved our objective. I am very optimistic about Sunday and it should be business as usual. We will go for all three points.
