Tandan (W/R), June 9, GNA - Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, a Deputy Minister of Energy, has donated Television (TV) sets to some communities in the Ellembelle constituency to enable the people to have a feel of the 2010 World Cup tournament that commences in South Africa next Friday. Three communities received 42-inch Protech LCD TV set with HD satellite dish and five other communities received a Panasonic TV set each with brand new generators.

The beneficiary communities are Atuabo, Tandan, Asasetre, Asomase, Kwasikrom, Mantukwa, New Bassake and Adu-Suazo. Mr. Buah, who is also Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle, making the presentation at Tandan, said that the unavailability of electricity in remote parts of the constituency should not prevent the people from watching the World Cup on TV.

He said plans were afoot to connect communities in the Northern part of Ellembelle to the national electricity grid. District Chief Executive for Ellembelle, Danile K. Eshun called on the people to make good use of the TV sets.

He advised parents to monitor the way their children would watch the TV sets so that it does not affect their education.

Mr. Eshun said that the District Assembly would endeavour to rehabilitate the Tandan Primary School and asked the people to approach the Assembly in time of difficulties.

Nana Ezah Kwame IV, Chief of Tandan, who received the TV sets on behalf of the communities, commended Mr. Buah for the gesture and promised that the beneficiaries would take good care of the TV sets. 9 June 10
