Yankey elected Chairman of C/R FA

Sekondi, Dec.22, GNA - Mr Lee Yankey, a 55-year Takoradi-based printer was on Wednesday elected Chairman of the Western Regional Football Association (RFA).

He polled 90 votes against 21 votes polled by Mr Kwabena Asante, his main opponent in the election supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC) at the RFA's Congress in Sekondi. Mr Yankey until the elections was the Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the RFA.


The newly elected Chairman in his acceptance speech said his vision is to raise the standard of football in the Region and to ensure that a sizable number of players from the Region earn a call into the national football teams.

Mr Yankey said he also intends to curb violence in football through education of players, team officials and supporters. Mr Ampim Darko, General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) called for support for Mr Yankey to enable him carry out his football development plans.
