Greece-based midfielder Bennard Kumordzi is hoping that his recent impressive performances for his club can earn him a recall to the Black Stars.
The 23-year-old, who plays for Panionios, has not featured for the Ghana national team since he was left out of last year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
But after scoring eight goals in the Greek top flight so far this season and winning several man-of-match awards, the enforcer is confident of a return to the fold.
"They say patience is a virtue so I am waiting for the opportunity to be called to the Black Stars," Kumordzi told Ghanasoccernet.com.
"I am in a very good shape and that is showing in the matches I have played for my club so far this season.
"The natural thing for a player is to progress from the U-23 to the Black Stars as some of my colleagues have done.
"I hope that the authorities will also keep an eye on the Greek league so that our exploits in this part of the world too is noted.
"Until then I will keep on working hard as I have done in the past but I insist my target is to get back into the national team."
Kumordzi made his debut for the Black Stars when they played Brazil in a friendly in Sweden two years ago.
He went on to earn three more caps for the national team but fell down the pecking order of the Black Stars in a star-studded midfield.
