Cape Coast, June 15, GNA - Winneba Windy Professionals on Sunday whipped Elmina Coconut Grove 2-0 in their Division One League match played at the Robert Mensah Stadium, Cape Coast.
After referee David Wamade from Tema signaled the two sides into action it was Windy Professionals who shot ahead in the 43rd minute through midfielder Sallasie Adjei.
Back from recess, Coconut Grove took absolute control of the game but their hopes of drawing level were dashed when Sallasie Adjei who played a yeoman's game was on target again to hit the net for the second time in the 65th minute.
Results of other League matches were, Sekondi Metro Stars beat Westlandes 1-0 with Feyenoored also pipping Dunkwa On-Offin Starke 1-0. The match between Tarkwa Real United and Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs at Tarkwa did not come on following alleged unruly behaviour of the home supporters.
In a related development, Adisadel Astronomers on Saturday stopped the winning ways of Cape Coast Venomous Vipers in the Division Two league matches played at Robert Mensah Stadium.
Vipers who are leading the Zone One league table with nine points were outclassed by Astronomers in all departments of the game with John Quansah scoring the only goal of the match in the 57th minute. Quansah after collecting a midfield pass weaved through a cluster of defenders before slotting in the match winner. Vipers threw everything into attack and made incessant attempts to equalize but try as they did, they could not find the net until full time. In another encounter, Tuba Metro Stars spanked Senya Bereku URB F/C 2-0.
