The attacking midfielder has not yet given up on making it to the World Cup with the Black Stars...
Highly rated youngster Jeffrey Sarpong has been in impressive form since he joined NEC from Ajax on a six-month loan deal last winter and the attacking midfielder has now set his sights on a spot in Ghana's World Cup squad.
The 21-year-old midfielder of Ghanaian and Nigerian heritage was born and raised in Amsterdam and has represented Holland at under-21 level several times.
However, he switched allegiance in 2009 and has since been awaiting his official Ghana debut.
"I think that it's a realistic goal for me to target a spot in Ghana's World Cup squad. I knew that I wouldn't make it into Holland's senior side, but I do have a chance to play for Ghana," said Sarpong to Voetbal International.
"It would really be amazing to play for Ghana at the World Cup. It's not like that's all I think about at the moment, but I definitely haven't given up on going to South Africa yet."
