Accra, Aug. 18, GNA - Chairman of the Central Regional Football Association, Matthew Narh Doe has dared critics of the proposed 20-Club Premier League format to prove the bribery allegations leveled against the proponents.

There were alleged reports that suggested that each of the heads of the Regional Football Associations (RFA) received 1,000 Ghana cedis from an unknown source to champion the motion, but Central Region RFA boss has challenged anyone with evidence to come out.

Doe told GNA Sports that the reports lack basis and should be treated with no form of attention.

"It is a reckless statement, whoever has incontrovertible facts to prove it should come forward.

"In Ghana, when something is going on and people want to detract attention, they make all manner of allegations. The more I talk about it, the more it infuriates me."

Doe, spokesperson of the 10 RFA Chairmen, who are proponents of the proposed League adjustment stunned all at the Extraordinary Congress of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Wednesday, when he announced the withdrawal citing critical deliberations amongst stakeholders.

"We had a discourse on the matter at the Executive Committee level and we decided that we must have time to give it another look.

"We therefore suggested that we shelve it for now and task the Executive Committee to form a committee to review it."

Doe added that the withdrawal does not put the matter to rest assuring that their views and decision will be implemented in the immediate future.

"This is the end of the matter. We feel that there should be an upward adjustment of the number of Clubs in the Premier League and we have to study it critically before implementation.

"We are leaving for Wa for the National Juvenile Festival and on our return we will begin deliberations on the proposal again."

The proposal also included adjusting the number of Clubs in the Division One League from 48 to 64, and also classification into four zones.

This is to ensure geographical representation in the Premier division during promotion in line with the development of football at the grassroots level.

At the end of the season, the leading Club will be crowned as champion of the League while relegation will be based on the standings on the Premier League table.
