With only a game remaining Ghana notched up an impressive away win against Benin on Sunday to close-in on a place at the 2011 African Youth Championship.
Ghana beat the hosts 2-0 in the first leg of the final round of qualifying as two goals in each half through Ebo Andoh and Richmond Boakye-Yiadom handed the Black Satellites the initiative ahead of the return leg in a fortnight's time.
Seven teams will qualify for next year's finals along with hosts Libya as Ghana seek to defend the title won in 2009.
Andoh put the Black Satellites in the lead before both teams went into the break.
The hosts returned from break determined to level up but Ghana's solid all-round performance ensured that the held onto their lead.
Just before the 80th minute mark, Boakye-Yiadom scored his second goal in the qualifying campaign to seal victory for Ghana.
Coach Orlando Wellington's side beat Namibia 5-1 on aggregate to reach this stage of the qualifying campaign.
