Nyantakyi express gratitude to Upper West for support

Wa, March 13, GNA - The President of Ghana Football Association (GFA) and member of the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has expressed gratitude to people in the Upper West Region for their prayers and support.

Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi was speaking in Wa at the weekend, when he called on Alhaji Issahaku Salia, Regional Minister and Naa Seidu Braimah, Member of the Council of State.

He was in the region to thank the people for standing solidly behind him during his campaign to get elected unto the CAF Executive Committee. Mr Nyantakyi said the region laid the foundation for him to rise up to his current level, stating that he owed the people a great deal of respect and would never forget them.

He also thanked the government for the support given him throughout his campaign.

He said while serving at the GFA and CAF he would see how best he could support the region specifically and the country in general to raise more football talents for the development of the sport.

He said God only used him to form Wa All Stars Football Club but in reality it was for the people of the region and urged them to give the club their unflinching support for it to grow to become one of the biggest clubs in the country.

Naa Braimah who described Nyantakyi as a results oriented person noted that football should not be politicised especially when the person was producing good results.

He noted that under Nyantakyi's able leadership football in the coun= try was raised to another level with Ghana lifting a world trophy and also participated in two successful World Cups and Africa Cup of Nations competitions.

Alhaji Salia said the GFA President had demonstrated what determination and perseverance could do in ones life and expressed the hope that he would soon rise up to occupy the highest office in football.

Mr Alban Kingsley Sumani Bagbin, Minister of Water Resources Works and Housing described Mr Nyantakyi as a pride to Ghana, an inspiration to the youth and a symbol of humble beginnings and urged the youth to see him as a role model. He said the GFA Boss had conquered Ghana and Africa and hoped he would soon conquer the world.
