Olympique de Marseille ended LOSC Lille Métropole's long reign at the top of Ligue 1 thanks to the children of legend Abedi Pele.

Andre Ayew scored a hat trick and his younger brother Jordan got the other goal as the defending champion beat Nice 4-2 to move one point ahead of Lille at the top of the French league.

Lille had been top of the table since December, but Didier Deschamps's side – who won a second successive League Cup at the weekend – overtook them thanks in the main to a André Ayew hat-trick at the Stade Vélodrome.

The Ghana striker opened the scoring in the 30th minute and, though Abdou Traoré levelled before half-time, added a second on the hour from his younger brother Jordan's cross.

Jordan Ayew then finished from Rod Fanni's pass to effectively make the points safe, although Habib Bamogo missed a penalty for Nice in the 85th minute. André Ayew headed in Fanni's cross in the 90th minute before former Marseille defender Renato Civelli nodded an added-time consolation for the visitors.
