Coach defends Azam Ghanaians

Azam FC’s coach, Stewart Hall, defended the Ghanian duo of Nafiu Awudu and Wahabu Yahya, saying that they still need chance to adapt to the environment. He said he will do something in the mini transfer window in December.

Azam signed Wahabu and Awudu, who play for the Ghanian Under-23 team. Other foreigners are Serbian goalie Obren Curkovic, Kipre Tchetche from Ivory Coast and Kenyan defender Ibrahim Shikanda. According to reports from Azam FC’s technical bench, Hall may loan one Ghanaian and end the contract with Shikanda to replace him with Ugandan defender Joseph Owino.

Both foreign players failed to secure their places in the first squad, despite training for a long time with other players. "The Ghanaians still need a chance. The Tanzania league seems to be tough to them. I’m still assessing them. I will see what to do with them," said the English coach.

"The way I see it, we need to strengthen some positions in order to be stronger and closer to title contenders. That’s why I spoke to the owners and they assured me of another package by the end of the year so that I can add some players. It’s too soon to say who is who," said Hall.
