Arsenal and Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong may have unwittingly got himself into the fierce argument about how players are selected into the Black Stars.

On Monday afternoon, he gave his opinion on the issue on the social network Twitter. “Personally Ghana Should Only Call Ghanaian Born Players…. We know The Worth of Our Country”

It is not clear what triggered such a deadpan tweet, but the last few weeks have seen three German-born players react in different ways towards the Black Stars. Kevin-Prince Boateng officially excluded himself from all further national assignments, not long after he actively performed for Ghana at the 2010 World Cup.

In the past week, the Ghana FA have accepted callups made by the Black Stars coach for two players eligible to play for Germany as well. Jeffery Schlupp of Leicester City and Charles Takyi of Saint Pauli in Germany were okayed to feature in tomorrow’s friendly with Gabon in France.

Frimpong himself only got clearance to play for Ghana recently, having been chased by England’s senior side. The19-year-old was born in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
