Medeama President Moses Armah says Ghanaian clubs have only been unlucky not to have done better in Inter-African club competitions in recent years.

The Yellow and Mauves are the only surviving club out of four representatives from Ghana to Africa this season.

Asante Kotoko, Berekum Chelsea and Ebusua Dwarfs have all fallen off in their respective African campaigns after just the second preliminary qualification round.

Many believe Ghana’s poor showing in African club football is a reflection of the domestic league which is touted as one of the best on the continent.

But Medeama President Moses Armah who doubles as an Executive Committee member of the Ghana FA says Ghanaian clubs have just been unlucky in Africa.

“It is unfortunate that the three clubs in Africa have exited. It is not a fair reflection of how competitive our league is,” he told Metro FM.

“I think the teams have just not been lucky enough.

“All the teams in the Ghana Premier League are very good sides and perhaps deserve to do better in Africa.”

Medeama who are just making their debut in Africa will now be facing Zambian club ZESCO United in their third preliminary qualification round.
