We Cheated In The Past - Joe Aggrey

Mr Joe Aggrey, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister has said the current football policy at eliminating over-aged players from international juvenile football competitions would revamp Ghana football and lay the foundation for a formidable national team.

Mr Aggrey conceded that, "in the past we were cheating and winning, but the right thing must be done now".

Mr Aggrey also said years of lopsided policies, which put premium on juvenile football, had adversely affected standards of the senior national team, the Black Stars.

While expressing regret at Ghana's elimination from the the under-17 and the under-20- on the trot, but said that should not be "the end of the world for Ghana football".

Mr Aggrey said the present policy of fielding only players within age limits specified for the juvenile sides would take some time to imprint on standards, especially so when other nations were continuing to stuff their teams with over-aged players.
