Two brilliant and well executed free kicks in a spell of ten minutes was all the women national team, the black Queens needed to inflict a 2-1 defeat on the Western Region branch of the Association of Sports Broadcasters of Ghana (ASBOG), in a friendly match played at the Gyandu Park over the weekend.
The queens have now avenged the 2-0 defeat suffered at the hands of ASBOG last week at the same venue.
The game which was highly publicized by the later saw a balanced dominance in the first quarter of the seventy- minutes game.
The Queens however took charge of the game and displayed a high level of team work to the disadvantage of their opponents who exhibited individual play.
Having captured the midfield, it was a matter of time that the Queens who played over 60 per cent of the game opened the score line.
It came as no surprise when in the 20th minute, SWAG female footballer of the year, Florence Oke of the Nigeria 2002 silver medallist fame opened the scores with a thunder bolt shot from a free-kick just out side the ASBOG vital area.
The midfield gem who has consistently proved to be the missing icon in every dull game expertly increased the tally for the Queens ten minutes later from a similar position.
This was after the ASBOG defense revolving around Bernard Taylor had committed a foul in front of the box.
The goal, which was received with the "ofun, real" chanting from the massive crowd present gave the Queens more courage to dictate the pace at all departments of the game. From recess, ASBOG effected three changes to strengthen the team which did well in the first ten minutes.
It was within this period that silky striker Wilfred Ackom pulled one back with a header from a Taylor,s long range set up from the defense.
Having allowed confusion to take the better part of them, ASBOG continued to conceded the midfield thereby giving the Queens enough room to operate.
Within a two minutes spell, the Western regional gurus were shown two red cards for rough play.
The two, Ato Dadzie and substitute Osei Kuffour who found the Queens strikers too hot to handle subjected skipper Mavis Djangmah and others to rough play on many occasion.
With the numerical advantage, the Queens opened up more fire to add to the tally but were not able to find the net again till the final whistle.
