Ahead of the 5pm kickoff of the FA Cup final between Kumasu Asante Kotoko and Medeama SC, ex-Asante Kotoko head coach Hans Diester Smicht has wished the Porcupine Warriors well urging then to shoot their opponents down to pick the ticket to Africa.
Dieter Smicht who coached the reds in the 2004/05 season seeing them to the finals of the Caf Confederations Cup to register a historic final with Accra Hearts of Oak has called on the playing body to play beyond their strengths ti win the trophy for the red family.
“I wish Asante Kotoko well and all the best in the game. The players must make the Kotoko family proud by winning this trophy to register a place in Africa”, Smicht told Ghanasoccernet.com in a chat.
“Kotoko is a big club and cannot afford to miss out in Africa. The last time they played in the finals of an African club competition I was the coach and I wish they won but we lost yo Hearts of Oak. I want to see them in the finals again so I pray they win today”.
Asante Kotoko and Medeama will not only be fighting for the trophy at stake but also an amount of one hundred thousand Ghana cedis and a ticket to compete in the African Confederations Cup.
The winner of today’s final will take home forty thousand Ghana cedis as the price for winning the trophy and another sixty thousand Ghana cedis to support her campaign in the African competition.
Asante Kotoko will be chasing their 9th FA Cup trophy since 1958 while Medeama SC will be looking to win their second in two years after winning the trophy in 2013.
