Ghana international striker Joetex Frimpong scored two opportunistic goals to put title holders Enyimba back on track for a successful defence of their African Champions League title as the Nigerians beat Raja Casablanca of Morocco 2-0 on Sunday.

It was a first win in Group B for Enyimba, who jump from bottom place into contention for a semifinal place.

The Nigerian club are chasing an unprecedented third successive Champions League title but had lost their last two matches in the group phase.

Frimpong chipped Raja's second-choice goalkeeper Yassine El Hadi for the opening goal on the half hour mark and then intercepted the ball after some hesitant Raja defending to add a second just after the break.

The double took Frimpong's tally for this year's tournament to eight goals.

Enyimba dominated the match but let their control slip in the final 10 minutes when Raja had two gilt-edged chances to score.

First Marouane Zemmama had his effort cleared off the line and then substitute Nourredine Harouach hit a soft shot straight at the goalkeeper after having broken clear of Enyimba's defence in the last minute of the match.

Enyimba and Raja now both have four points, six off the group leaders Al Ahli of Egypt., The top two finishers progress to the semifinals in September.
