Ghana striker, Asamoah Gyan was handed the captain's armband in NorthEast United's 1-1 draw against Kerala Blasters in the Indian top-flight over the weekend.
The 34-year-old scored from the spot-kick to hand his side a point at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Gyan, an iconic former Black Stars captain, took over the leadership of the team on the pitch in the absence of José David Leudo.
Bartholomew Ogbeche shot Kerala Blasters into the lead before Gyan pulled parity from the spot-kick as both teams shared the spoils in a drama-filled encounter.
