Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah was satisfied with his performance on Major League Soccer debut for Columbus Crew this past weekend.
The Black Stars centre-back made his official debut and impressed in Crew’s defence as the Black & Gold drew 1-1 with Chicago Fire in their opening MLS match of 2017 on Saturday.
Mensah played the full 90 minutes at the MAPFRE Stadium. He saw his side take the lead through Ethan Finlay’s 17th-minute goal, but couldn’t prevent compatriot David Accam scoring the equaliser.
“[My MLS debut] wasn’t bad,” Mensah said, as reported by his club’s official website.
“I did what I could do and I hope I improve game after game.
“The result wasn’t what we wanted, but a lot of positive stuff and we will pick it up from there and look to the next game.
“[The atmosphere at MAPFRE Stadium] was good. This is my first time and I really liked it. I hope it’s going to continue like that.”
