Residents of Isheri, Arepo, Lafenwa, Warewa communities and other adjoining areas along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State were put in panic on Monday following a flood alert due to the release of water from the Oyan River Dam from the Ogun River Basin - Oshun Authority.

Residents began to notice a gradual increase in the flow of River Ogun on Saturday. Meanwhile, the water came out of the flood, spreading to places a few meters from the river bank.

Some residents expressed fear of what they described as a new wave of flooding crises in their communities. A resident of Isheri North GRA, Muftau Alabi, said in an interview that water had started flowing in some of his streets.

He said: "We woke up on Sunday to see our street flooded gradually. Everyone is worried now, but we still face the situation.

Those who are close to the place where the water came can no longer enter the house. I hope that it will not be a repeat of the disaster we had last year. Another resident, Kunle Adejobi, said some residents were planning to leave the area.
