The Ministry of the Interior, in collaboration with the Diaspora Affairs Office of the President, has announced a temporary suspension of Ghanaian citizenship applications for historical diasporans.

In a statement issued on Sunday, February 1, the institutions explained that the decision forms part of a joint effort to review and improve the application process. The pause, according to the statement, is intended to streamline procedures and make the system more efficient, accessible, and user-friendly.

Officials noted that the suspension will allow for necessary refinements to ensure a smoother and more seamless experience when the application process resumes.

Despite the temporary halt, the Ministry of the Interior and the Diaspora Affairs Office of the President reaffirmed their commitment to welcoming members of the global African family back home.

The statement added that revised timelines and updated application guidelines will be communicated through official government channels in due course.
