Gyankroma Akufo-Addo, daughter of former President Nana Akufo-Addo, has strongly refuted allegations circulating on social media that she received $25 million to paint interchanges in Accra, describing the claims as “entirely absurd and false.”
In a press statement released on Friday, Gyankroma Akufo-Addo categorically denied the existence of any such contract, emphasizing that no agreement of that nature has ever been proposed, awarded, or executed.
“My attention has once again been drawn to the circulation of entirely absurd and false claims alleging that I received $25 million to paint interchanges in Accra. Let me state, again, unequivocally and for the record: This claim is completely false. No such contract has ever existed, been offered, or been awarded.”
She further challenged anyone in possession of evidence supporting the allegation to make it public.
“If any individual, media platform, or commentator is in possession of such a contract, I challenge them to produce it publicly. They will not because it does not exist.”
Addressing the origins of the artwork projects referenced in the claims, she explained that the “Art for All” initiative was privately conceived and implemented through the Creative Arts Agency. According to her, the projects were financed through a mix of private sector support and personal contributions, a fact she says has been previously disclosed.
Gyankroma Akufo-Addo described the resurgence of the allegations as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and tarnish her reputation, particularly noting their spread across social media platforms.
“The deliberate revival and spread of this fabrication… is a calculated attempt to mislead the public and damage my reputation.”
In response, she announced that legal steps are being taken against those responsible for disseminating the claims.
“Accordingly, I have today instructed my lawyers to take immediate legal action against the individuals, platforms, and media outlets responsible for publishing and amplifying these falsehoods. I will not allow deliberate misinformation to go unchallenged.”
The statement marks the latest development in an ongoing public controversy, as misinformation and accountability on digital platforms continue to draw national attention.
