Honouring Lady Dentaa Amoateng, Prof. Elsie Effah Kaufmann, Sarah Femi Asante and a New Generation of African Women Leaders

The seventh Women’s Choice Awards Africa took place last Saturday, spotlighting women whose innovation, leadership and impact are reshaping industries and communities across the continent.

Lady Dentaa Amoateng MBE of GUBA was celebrated for her influence in diaspora development, while Ing. Prof. Elsie Effah Kaufmann of the University of Ghana was honoured for advancing STEM education. Sarah Femi Asante of Groupe Sebastien received recognition for excellence in business and hospitality leadership.

Leadership honours continued with Dr. Fatma Odaymat as Transformational Leader of the Year and Merene Botsio Benyah for her achievements in legal administration. Judith Adjobah Blay, CEO of Ghana National Gas Company, received top energy leadership honours, and GNFS Chief Fire Officer Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong was recognised for emergency response excellence.

Phoenix Health Insurance CEO Adwoa Boatemah Adu–Sarkodee earned the award for health insurance leadership, while marketing honours went to Adiza Ibrahim of Electroland Ghana. Joyceline Coleman of KPMG was recognised for her role in transformative accounting, and Selassie Ibrahim of Regal Film Festival and Awards received the Arts & Culture Influence Award.

Npontu Technologies stood out for innovation in digital platform development. Zenith Bank (Ghana) Ltd earned recognition for SME banking, while Lauren Hanson of Lauren Haute Couture received the Art of Style Honour. Melissa Bediako of Kempinski Hotels was named a transformational hospitality leader, and Soronko Academy’s Regina Honu was honoured for her contributions to STEM and innovation.

Creative empowerment honours went to Roberta Annan of the African Fashion Foundation. JLD & MB Legal Consultancy was named Outstanding Commercial Law Firm, and Ghana National Gas Company received accolades for excellence in national gas management. Awards were also presented to hospitality entrepreneur Mrs. Kate Hassan and insurance-broking leader Mrs. Esther Adomako.

The Ghana National Fire Service was acknowledged for its work in fire prevention and emergency operations. Al-Rayan International School received the Educational Excellence Award, and Maame Yaa Dufie of Colour Drop Impressions Ltd was honoured for corporate branding.

Additional recognitions included PR excellence for Emma Wenani of Global Media Alliance and healthcare financing leadership for Phoenix Health Insurance. Mrs. Aretha Mensah of Knowledge Tree was celebrated for philanthropy and educational advocacy.

The Ultimate Woman in Leadership (Media) was awarded to Nana Yaa Serwaa Sarpong of EIB Network. Joana Gyan Cudjoe earned the Agent of Change Award, and Abigail Amma Afriyie Abora Addo of Aide Chemist was celebrated as Woman CEO of the Year in Pharmaceuticals.
