The demolition of structures at La Pleasure Beach, Polo Beach Club and other beachfront locations in Accra has raised concerns about the future of businesses and livelihoods in the area.
The October 2 exercise affected leisure facilities and other structures used by businesses operating along the coast.
La Dade-Kotopon MP Rita Naa Odoley Sowah questioned the operation, saying she had previously received assurances that structures in the Labadi Beach area would not be affected.
The demolitions have brought renewed attention to the challenge of balancing property rights, coastal management and public access with the livelihoods of traders, workers and business operators.
Further clarification from the relevant authorities and affected businesses could establish the full extent of the economic impact.
