John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana and African Union (AU) Champion for African Financial Institutions, has arrived in Nairobi to participate in the Africa Forward Summit, a high-level France-Africa partnership meeting.

The summit, organised by Emmanuel Macron, has convened African Heads of State, global business leaders, and international partners to strengthen collaboration on sustainable development and economic resilience across the continent.

President Mahama is expected to take part in a high-level discussion on Green Industrialisation and Energy Transition on Tuesday morning. The session will explore strategies for advancing Africa’s industrial growth while addressing the pressing challenges of the global climate crisis.

In his capacity as AU Champion for African Financial Institutions, Mahama will later participate in a working lunch focused on reforming the international financial architecture. Discussions will centre on improving access to sustainable financing for African countries and ensuring that the global financial system becomes more equitable and responsive to the continent’s needs.

The President will also co-chair a roundtable on health titled “Rethinking global health and building resilient national health systems,” as part of his broader Accra Reset Initiative.

On the sidelines of the summit, Mahama is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with key global leaders, including António Guterres, Kristalina Georgieva, and Alvaro Lario. These engagements will focus on strengthening global cooperation, promoting economic stability, and addressing food security challenges in Ghana and across Africa.

President Mahama is expected to depart Nairobi on Tuesday evening and return to Accra.
