UK-based Ghanaian gospel musician Diana Antwi Hamilton has revealed that hosting concerts at London’s iconic O2 Arena comes with strict limitations and significantly higher costs for gospel artistes.
Speaking on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz with Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio, the award-winning singer said her management team is carefully weighing the possibility of staging a version of her annual Awake Experience at the venue.
According to Diana, one of the major challenges is content ownership, as artistes are not allowed to fully own or freely use footage recorded at the arena.
“The laws of those venues do not allow for you to own the film of that place. We usually get content from our events, but how many O2 events have you seen content from?” she questioned.
She added that these restrictions make the venue less attractive for gospel events that rely heavily on recorded content for ministry outreach.
