A 54-year-old pastor, Hammond Love, popularly known as pastor Love has been remanded into custody by an Accra Circuit Court following serious allegations of vehicle theft and document forgery involving a Honda Civic worth GH¢180,000.
The accused, who appeared before the court this week, pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is expected to remain in custody for two weeks while investigations and legal proceedings continue.
Prosecutors, led by Chief Inspector Ebenezer Teye Okuffo, told the court that the case stems from a transaction gone wrong between the pastor and a businessman, Daniel Baidoo, based in Weija. The two reportedly became acquainted in October 2025, during which time the accused allegedly portrayed himself as a legitimate car dealer.
According to the prosecution, the pastor proposed a deal in which Baidoo would exchange his Honda Civic and add GH¢30,000 in return for a Range Rover. However, the arrangement reportedly took a troubling turn on November 7, 2025, when the accused, along with two accomplices, allegedly took back the Range Rover from the complainant under questionable circumstances.
Further investigations revealed that the Honda Civic involved in the deal had allegedly been sold for GH¢150,000 after its ownership documents were falsified.
Police say the accused admitted to his involvement during questioning and promised to resolve the matter, but he allegedly failed to follow through on that assurance.
The court has ordered his continued detention as the case unfolds, raising concerns about fraudulent schemes disguised as legitimate business transactions.
