Seidu Agongo Pledges Credible, Accountable Journalism as Accra TV Launches

Alhaji Seidu Agongo, Founder of Class Media Group, has pledged that Accra TV will uphold accuracy, fairness, transparency and accountability in its journalism as the new television station joins the media group.**

Speaking at the launch of Accra TV, Mr Agongo said trust would remain the foundation of the station's operations, assuring viewers and stakeholders that it would serve as a credible platform for facts, dialogue and accountability.

He described credibility as the most valuable asset of Class Media Group, stressing that the group's success depended not merely on its studios, cameras or transmission equipment, but on the confidence of its audience.

"Trust is earned through accuracy, fairness, consistency and accountability," he said, adding that responsible journalism required media organisations to verify information before publication, inform the public rather than inflame tensions, and have the courage to correct mistakes.

Mr Agongo observed that trust had come under increasing strain in recent times, with citizens questioning the motives of leaders, employees expressing concerns about fairness and communities becoming more uncertain about whom to believe.

According to him, the challenge confronting society is no longer a shortage of information, but the difficulty of determining what is credible, transparent and true.

He said the media had a critical responsibility to bridge the gap between institutions and the public, as well as between facts and public understanding.

However, he cautioned that the media could fulfil this responsibility only when its work was grounded in trust.

"As we launch Accra TV this evening, let me reassure our stakeholders, particularly our audience and viewers, that we are committing ourselves to being a trusted platform for facts, dialogue and accountability," he stated.

Mr Agongo further assured the public that Accra TV would be a platform that listens, informs and serves, reaffirming the group's commitment to responsible journalism.

He concluded that when trust grows, societies prosper, businesses succeed and democracy flourishes.
