
Ghana’s Vice President, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has met with members of the Ghanaian community in Angola following the conclusion of the AU–EU Summit in Luanda. The Vice President was accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and her Political Advisor, Hon. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo. The delegation was received by Ghana’s Ambassador to Angola, H.E. Mavis Esi Kusorgbor.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice President conveyed warm greetings from President John Dramani Mahama and emphasized the longstanding historical ties between Ghana and Angola. She noted that these relations are grounded in the pan-African vision of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who championed liberation, dignity, and shared progress across the continent.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang commended the Ghanaian community in Angola for its exemplary conduct, highlighting the Ambassador’s report of zero incidents of wrongdoing involving Ghanaian nationals since her assumption of office. She encouraged all citizens to register with the Embassy to receive timely information and support services.
The Vice President also outlined government priorities, including inclusive development, improved access to essential needs, women and children’s empowerment, and achieving self-sufficiency in food production. She said Ghana is leveraging its tropical climate and reassessing agricultural strategies to strengthen food sovereignty.
Additionally, she emphasized government’s commitment to value addition in the natural resource sector to create jobs and retain wealth within local communities. She assured the community that government recognizes the contributions of Ghanaians abroad and is building a participatory governance system anchored on collaboration and unity.
